I was raised by my parents on a farm in rural Manitoba.  My mother was a Registered Nurse who, left her profession to work on the family farm full-time.  Once the farm was running and a bumper crop appeared, my mom went back to her profession and my dad became my primary care-giver.  

 

Growing up I went everywhere with him.  I took afternoon naps in a bassinet on tractors, combines, and grain trucks.  It was a unique way to grow up and years later I came to realize what a deep appreciation of landownership it had provided me with. 

 

I subscribe to a life philosophy that "there are no accidents", and I find it interesting that I grew up in a family of farmers who were very self-sufficient and self-reliant and who relied on the land to provide for themselves and others. 

Now, years later after having penned an essay on the challenges in the life of the early pioneers in Grade Six, I find it exciting that I have a career as a professional realtor, helping others through their ownership of real estate in a pioneer manner, and working for a company that is named after the original pioneer in this area.
